Whether you’re a freelancer looking to grow your client base, an entrepreneur hoping to expand your startup, or a small business owner aiming to increase revenue; taking stock of where you are in relation to your goals is crucial for driving success.

From how to measure your actions, reset them if necessary, and ultimately reach success, here are a few ways to fit goal digging into your summer vibes.

MEASURE: Monitoring for Success & Seeking Potential

The first step in performing a mid-year goals review is measuring your current progress against goals set at the beginning of the year. It may be tempting to edit your goals based on your progress (or lack thereof) but what might happen if you’re honest and look at what is and what isn’t working? This requires gathering data and analyzing key metrics that are relevant to your specific objectives and might look something like:

  • If one of your goals was to increase revenue by 20%, you’ll need to compare your current revenue figures with those from last year or from earlier in the current year. Then evaluate the actions you took in marketing, development, or sales channels to create opportunity.

  • Let’s say you aimed to acquire 10 new clients for your side hustle by mid-year, now is the time to tally up how many new clients you’ve actually gained, how many active leads you’ve generated, and consider how your tactics are contributing to your goal.

  • If expanding into new markets was on your agenda, assess whether you’ve made any headway with market research, partnerships, or initial outreach.

By quantifying and evaluating these metrics against your initial targets, you can gain valuable insights into what becomes your ongoing unique formula and where there is room for improvement.
